Ripley County Basketball Hall of Fame
Dan Kerker
Dan Kerker played for the Bulldogs from 1972 - 1976 under Coach Paul Ehrman. During that four-year stint the Bulldogs claimed a Ripley County Championship, an Eastern Indiana Athletic Conference Championship, and two IHSAA Sectional Championships. As a three-year starter for the Bulldogs, Dan was a two-time all-county, all-conference, and all-sectional selection. As a senior Dan averaged 20.2 points per contest.

Dan will long be remembered for his proficiency at the free throw line - he was automatic - and when put to the test as a senior with no time on the clock but no buzzer yet sounded, calmly sank two free throws to propel the Bulldogs to the champoinship game of the 1976 Sectional where he answered the next night with 31 points versus Milan to lead his team to a sectional crown.

After graduating from Batesville, Dan spent time in Korea having enlisted for four years with the military. In addition, he is a 34-year Army aviation combat veteran retiring in 2011. Dan continues to show his love of the game as a 25-year IHSAA basketball official at both the boys' and girls' varsity levels, and he is currently entering his ninth year as the head girls basketball coach at Oldenburg Academy.

Dan and wife, Cathy, reside in Oldenburg and are the parents of three children, Don, Doug, and Jennifer and the grandparents of four. He is employed as an aircraft engine overhaul inspector for Standard Aero in Cincinnati Ohio.

Welcome Dan Kerker to the Ripley County Basketball Hall of Fame class of 2018!
