Ripley County Basketball Hall of Fame
Shelly (Meyer) Prickel
Shelly played for the Bulldogs from 1985 - 1989. In that four-year span, Batesville was ranked as high as 3rd statewide in single class competition, posted 3 sectional championships and grabbed one regional chamionship. Shelly's senior year saw the Bulldogs take an undefeated regular season record of 20-0 into tournament play before bowing out to Seymour in a heartbreaking regional final game.

The eleven-time varsity letter winner averaged double figures in scoring both her junior and senior seasons shooting at nearly a 50% clip, but more importantly defensively, Shelly was the point in Coach Art Brebberman's patented 1-2-2 zone causing havoc for opponents. She was named All-County two years, All-Conference two years, and was named to the Top 100 Seniors list. In the 40&8 All-Star game as a senior, Shelly was named the Star of Stars.

Shelly graduated with a 4.0 grade point average from Ball State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in K-12 Physical Education. She since has picked up a Masters Degree in Education from Indiana Wesley. In addition to coaching a multitude of sports at various levels, she is currently in her 25th year as a PE and Health teacher at Batesville Middle School.

Shelly and husband, Rick (a Batesville alum), reside in Batesville along with their three children Austin, Drew, and Macy.
