Gene Wagner

Gene Wagner is a 1966 graduate of Holton High School.

​

Fans will remember Gene as a prolific scorer for the Warhorses.  As a sophomore, he scored at a 8.5 points per game clip and was a member of the 1964 Sectional Championship team.  As a junior Gene touted a 17.3 PPG average and as a senior filled the nets at 19.3 points per game.  Gene scored a career high 35 points as a senior against Laurel, and equally impressive was his 27-point effort in the Warhorses' come from behind victory against Dillsboro erasing a 17-point halftime deficit.

The three-year starter wrapped up his high school career with 905 total points, and after leading his team in scoring, rebounding, and field goal percentage, was named Holton's MVP his senior year.  Gene was selected to the 1966 40 & 8 All-Star team as well.

​

Upon graduation, Gene served in the National Guard and after 37-1/2 years of employment at REMC, he retired.

​

Gene and his wife, Joyce, are the parents of two children.
