Rick Smith
Rick Smith played under the legendary coach Dave Porter for the Jac-Cen-Del Eagles from 1971 to 1974. During this time the Eagles were Ripley County Champions twice and Sectional Champions once. The 1972 Sectional Champs were eliminated in the final game of the Connersville Regional. Connersville was the eventual State Champion in 1972.
Individually, Rick was selected to the ORVC All Conference Team twice, the All Sectional Team twice and the All County team once. During his Senior season, Rick was the leading scorer and rebounder for the Eagles. During his playing time with the Eagles, Rick was known for his toughness around the basket and his ability to rebound with authority.
Following High School, Rick fulfilled his dream of becoming a United States Marine. Rick served in the Marine Corps attaining the distinguished rank of Master Gunnery Sergeant. Rick retired from the United States Marine Corps after serving our country for 23 years.
Currently, Rick is still involved with basketball at Jac-Cen-Del. He is an Assistant Coach for the Lady Eagles program with his nephew Scott Smith.
Rick and his wife Tammy reside in Napoleon. Their children are Rachel, Josh, Chris and Nicole. They also have 8 grandchildren.
